WHAT IS FREE ELECTRONS?

The Free Electrons Open Innovation Program connects the world’s largest, most powerful utilities providers with the world’s most promising & disruptive startups.

Startups attending the Webinar from 2023 Free Electrons edition

We took part in several accelerators and open innovation programs, but Free Electrons is unlike any other. From the very beginning the goal is clear - conduct pilot projects with participating utilities and the whole program revolves around that. The in-depth discussions with business and innovation representatives from the utilities provided us with key insights not only on how to prepare and structure the pilots, but also how to continue working with them beyond Free Electrons. Thanks to the program we were able to extend our coverage and expand outside of Europe.

BladeBUG was extremely fortunate to be selected for the 2023 Free Electrons program alongside an amazing cohort of likeminded companies. It was such an amazing experience and opportunity to be taken around the world, working and building relationships with the utilities and the other companies. Every module was incredibly well organised with meticulous detail including insightful sessions with past alumni giving useful feedback on their experiences and how to make the most of this incredible opportunity. I couldn’t recommend applying for Free Electrons highly enough.

The Free Electrons program was a great experience! The cohort of selected startups were some of the best and friendliest founders we have met. Our sessions of sharing our experiences and industry know-how really helped better understand the landscape as a whole. There was always someone offering help or sharing advice for challenges you were going through. To top it all off, the participating utilities were always open to conversation and happy to help understand where our startup can contribute or how we can help each other. I really felt the drive they had to try to innovate and were always understanding of our situation as startups, showing flexibility and a drive for problem solving.
